(BAR-48) Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-Wing Starfighter
After completing a successful launch of my IHSF Kessel Runner, this V-Wing seems to be another worthy candidate.
This will be powered by dual 29mm composite motors and will need the "Stability Warp Pod" in order to obtain atmospheric stability.
The
OpenRocket model was created using 1/4" plywood, however I may opt for
1/8" Baltic Birch plywood from one of our vendors. For nose weight I'll
use some B-B's mixed with wood glue which should conform nicely to the
odd shaped fuselage.
A 36" chute and the dual 29mm rear eject spool should work well for recovery.
2025-05-20 More CAD Model progress...
I think I'm going to lower the cockpit some to get the deflectors (upper fins over the droid) closer to the fuselage
Updated the OpenRocket model to reflect the weights and sizes... looks
like we're go for fabrication. Even with the bigger G-78 motors it's
stable.
G-78's are "Green Mojave" propellant... supposed to be easier to light
compared to "White Lightening". I believe it, I had a couple of the
G74's chuff and spit out the igniters... hate to have that happen with
one motor, and the other one fires.
